ELDER LAW PARALEGAL/CASE MANAGER

JOB SUMMARY:

The Paralegal/Case Manager will assist the Elder Law Attorneys by providing clerical and research support services, including document preparation and review, interviewing clients, research, investigation, and fact checking. This position communicates extensively with our clients as the primary contact in Elder Care Protection Planning, Life Care Planning, and to assist in applying for resources such as Medical Assistance, Veterans Home, and Veteran’s Administration Aid & Attendance.

POSITION PURPOSE:

To assist with case planning, development, and management while gathering information to draft, analyze and submit legal documents and applications on behalf of clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage deadlines and expectations for clients
  • Request information, prepare letters, complete paperwork, manage correspondence with clients, case workers, and additional duties regarding the filing of Medical Assistance applications
  • Prepare paperwork, request information, and schedule phone interviews to complete a Veterans Home Application and Aid & Attendance Application
  • Prepare Long-Term Care reports and other client correspondence with a high degree of accuracy

This position may be for you if you have the following:

  • Three to Five years Paralegal experience preferred
  • Paralegal Certification preferred
  • Complex case management preferred
  • Experience with Medical Assistance, Veterans benefits or other public benefits programs preferred
  • Strong oral and written communication skills exhibiting a high degree of accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • Strong customer and quality focus
  • Attention to detail is key
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to proactively assist attorney(s) 
  • Ability to work independently and make independent decisions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing priorities; ability to multi-task and track assigned projects.
  • Excellent computer skills; proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Tabs/PracticeMaster & Law Firm based document management systems is preferred
