Get to know Lauren
Lauren Fink is the founder of Everbright Legacy Law, PLLC. She helps clients with estate planning, long-term care planning, special needs planning, and business succession planning. Lauren earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English Literature from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and received her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law.
Lauren’s warm approach puts her clients at ease as she assists them in developing a plan that ensures their confidence about their current situations and future.
Those who know Lauren well describe her as:
- Caring: She deeply cares about her clients and their situations, often thinking about ways to help them even when she’s not at work. Her top priority is to ensure that her clients are informed and confident about their circumstances and futures.
- Approachable: Lauren is easy to talk to and makes every effort to ensure that people don’t feel intimidated by her. New clients often say they feel immediately comfortable around her, making it easy for them to ask questions and share important details about their cases.
- Good-natured: Lauren focuses on the lighter side of situations, believing there is always a silver lining. She laughs easily and seeks ways to make both life and work enjoyable.
Lauren chose to become an elder law attorney because her parents were caretakers for many elders in her family. Witnessing the difficulties they faced inspired her to become a valuable guide for others caring for the elderly. The elderly members of her family particularly inspired her, prompting her to dedicate her life to helping them. She genuinely enjoys connecting with seniors, listening to their stories, and building lasting relationships.
She has a strong belief that most people are kind and helpful. She was very close to her grandfather, who lived to be 95. He taught her many life lessons and found that as he aged, he needed to ask for help more frequently. He discovered that perfect strangers would go out of their way to assist him. He always reminded her that, despite appearances, people are fundamentally good. This belief has stayed with her.
Lauren is committed to being the dependable person her clients can rely on to alleviate the heavy burden of planning for the future, simplifying what can often be a difficult and complex process.
One of her greatest accomplishments was completing the Half Dome hike in Yosemite National Park with a friend. The challenging trek included a significant elevation gain and a vertical climb using railroad ties at the summit. Although she could barely walk afterward due to sore feet and painful blisters, she takes immense pride in the experience. She believes that if she can accomplish that, she can achieve anything.
By helping her clients make informed decisions about their futures and the futures of their loved ones, Lauren is making a meaningful difference.
A quote that embodies her philosophy is: “Realistically, I focus on the facts and scenarios that are likely to occur, rather than indulging in magical thinking.”
Her next personal challenge is to get certified as a bareboat captain. Lauren loves sailing, and with certification, she hopes to rent boats worldwide. She dreams of sailing in the Mediterranean among the Greek Isles, exploring areas that are inaccessible by car.
On her bookshelf is “American Gods” by Neil Gaiman.
Seven words that describe her are: Mama, wife, daughter, cat lover, beer connoisseur, epicurean, sailor.
When she’s not working, Lauren enjoys spending time with her husband and two children, exploring St. Paul by bike. She and her husband hope to retire on a sailboat someday so they can travel the world together.
